Samuel & Eliza Norton Portraits Restored
The restoration of our portraits of Samuel F. Norton and his wife Eliza has been completed. They can be viewed at the Hawkins House, during one of our regular YHS open meetings. Or call the Hawkins House to arrange for a guided tour of the house and it's many rooms. The portraits were restored by Alexander Katlan Conservator Inc., a leading fine arts conservator.
Homan-Gerard House Restoration
Suffolk County and the Yaphank Historical Society have plans to restore the Homan-Gerard House. It is second on the list of Suffolk County Properties to be restored. Naturally the Mill Pond is essential to the interpretation of the Homan-Gerard House and Property. The Carmans River Nature Trail and Sanctuary is on the property and open to the public.
